1568 - Technique
The refurbishment and extension of a late 1950s warehouse building to create a modern workspace with retail at ground floor. Significant rooftop extension, adding floors to the existing building in exposed glulam frame with CLT slabs.
- Site maximized with side and rooftop extensions to add ~60% internal floor area
- Maximised retention of existing structure to be celebrated as an exposed concrete finish
- Feature brick clad corner extension to form new reception, lobby and multi-purpose arts space
- Lightweight timber framing solution to new floors limited the strengthening requirements of the existing building
