Millstream Tower
A new 22-storey residential development in north London comprising 128 homes atop commercial units at the ground level. The complex site is positioned over the Victoria Line tunnels and trunk sewer.
Key features
Cantilevering the building with alternative substructure
To reduce impact on existing infrastructure, the building is cantilevered via its substructure within the site footprint.
Research studies to determine cantilever options
We carried out studies for the contractor, Kier, to establish cantilever options that would navigate the Underground tunnels.
Collaborating to obtain approvals
Collaborating with geotechnical consultants CGL, we obtained the necessary approvals from Transport for London, ensuring ground movement and settlements were within tolerable limits.
Reducing costs by circa £7 million
The stiff piled raft supporting the cantilever wall structure (up to 10-storeys high) helped reduce overall project costs by circa £7 million.
