Key features

Architectural timber detailing

Extensive detailing of the timber beam and column connections for a high quality finish to the exposed structure.

New fishing lake

A new fishing lake was created at the confluence of three existing streams on the site.

Combining different structural frames

The guest wing and stables utilise traditional blockwork and timber, while the working barn features lightweight steel frames.

Below-ground drainage

The below-ground drainage is fed through a packaged sewage processing unit plant before being discharged into the watercourse.

“Although this house is undoubtedly a fine modern manor home, it also provides an approach to how more modest new build homes could be informed by an evolving tradition that creates modern vernacular houses in rural settings.”
