Key features

Preparing the site for construction

Located on an existing quarry, the site has undergone an earthwork programme to reduce site levels by up to 15m.

Timber-framed primary school

The primary school building comprises a 2-storey timber frame with CLT slabs supported on CLT walls and glulam and steel beams.

Working with the site contours

The 4-storey secondary school building nestles into the slope of the site and is constructed from exposed RC with steel frame elements. We undertook extensive cut and fill modelling to reduce the amount of material to be taken from site.

Natural ventilation via roof structures

The primary school features natural ventilation cowls, based on traditional ‘Oast’ structures in the region.

Outdoor sports facilities

The external works include four grass sports pitches, 3 multi-use games areas, a running track, a 4G artificial pitch, car parking and play spaces.
