Key features

CLT loadbearing wall construction

Constructed on an exposed RC podium slab at first floor level

Complex services re-routing

All existing and historic below ground services needed to be diverted around the proposed foundations in a new trench before construction.

Attenuation under playing fields

We used the area beneath the playing fields next to the building to provide a large soakaway tank for run-off water storage.

Faceted and functional roof form

The distinctive timber roof and steel-framed chimneys incorporate extraction stacks for ventilation of the lab spaces.
