Structural completion at 76 Southbank

Our 76 Southbank project has topped out, a significant milestone for the concrete-framed, Grade II listed Denys Lasdun building in Southwark. The project has been thoughtfully refurbished and expanded for Stanhope with AHMM and Multiplex, transforming it into a sustainable, modern, adaptable, and low-carbon workplace.

During the concept design stages of 76 Southbank, we utilised our HTS Stockmatcher to identify opportunities for reusing steel. The final structure showcases the reused steel, with approximately 35 tonnes out of 230 tonnes from reclaimed stock.

Director at Heyne Tillett Steel, Mark Tillett said “We worked hard to retain 80% of the Lasdun’s structure whilst totally remodelling it to realise Allford Hall Monaghan Morris’s vision for Stanhope PLC and Woolf. So much engineering thought and work sits below the new top slab, 40% additional area supported on 5 different original foundations all reused and sweated to capacity. A landmark project in a lifetime.“

We look forward to sharing news of practical completion soon.
