•Aggregates in UK Construction
What happens to aggregates in UK construction?
The environmental impact of concrete extends beyond the large carbon footprint of clinker production. Aggregates do not have a significant embodied carbon footprint, but the sheer volumes involved mean it’s important to explore this from a material and land use perspective.
With the help of KLH Sustainability, HTS+ explored the impacts of raw material extraction in this new study on aggregates, and identified that there is limited data at present on where recycled and secondary aggregates (RSAs) get used.
This summary sets out the insights of the research and seeks to open a conversation on what happens to aggregates in UK construction.
