1444 - KOKO
Camden
Alongside architects Archer Humphreys, HTS worked on the sensitive refurbishment of the Grade II listed KOKO in Camden to ensure its long-term future as a world-renowned music venue. The adjoining buildings which include 65 Bayham Place, 1 Bayham Street and the Hope & Anchor pub were demolished and rebuilt above a 2-storey basement to provide one integrated entertainment venue.
Key features:
- 180 m2 of restaurant space added above an existing Grade II listed theatre
- New foundations below the existing dance floor
- Retention of a culturally significant section of façade
- Strengthening the existing structure supporting the dome to provide an additional 60 m2 of bar area
- Maximising the floor to ceiling height by raising the steel beams into the depth of the floor slab
