Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Refurbishment of an existing 1980s commercial building to create a modern office and to add additional floor area. Sustainability is at the heart of the development, reusing as much of the existing building fabric and providing low-carbon, engineered timber extensions and utilising reused steel.

Key Features

  • 1-2 storey upward extension, including roof terrace.
  • New structure in steel frame and CLT floor slabs, with some of the steelwork reused from other Grosvenor sites and from reclaimed stock.
  • 93% of existing building reused.
  • Minimal strengthening to existing building verified through investigations.
  • Building partly located over TW sewer and adjacent to Sloane Square LUL station.
  • Aided the development of our HTS Stockmatcher tool, which is now open source to support the uptake of reused steel across the industry.
