1501 - Herne Hill Velodrome

The UK’s oldest velodrome and home of track cycling in London for over 120 years, Herne Hill Velodrome is the only remaining venue still in operation from the 1948 Olympic Games. The timber structure has been sensitively redesigned and refurbished, securing a long-term future for the historic sporting venue.

 Key features:

• New two-storey pavilion to replace the derelict 19th century structure
• Load-bearing CLT / glulam structure
• Refurbishment and strengthening of the 1890s cast iron columns
• Re-landscaping of trackside areas including below ground drainage
