1318 - Charterhouse School - Science and Maths Building

Godalming, Surrey

A new build Chemistry block extension to the existing Grade II listed Museum Building at the Charterhouse School to provide phase 1 of the new Science and Maths development.

Key Features  

  • A CLT loadbearing wall construction with a faceted roof site on an exposed RC podium slab at first floor level
  • A complex services diversion was required prior to construction re-routing all of the existing and historic services below ground around the proposed foundations in a new trench
  • A large attenuation soakaway tank was dug beneath the playing fields adjacent to the building
