The Other House, Covent Garden
A new boutique hotel set over an entire block in the Covent Garden Conservation Area spanning six existing buildings, three of which are Grade II-listed, united by a triple-height glazed central atrium.
Key features
Three retained façades
The unique façades with their heritage details and architectural styles are being retained. Careful sequencing meant temporary works could be avoided.
Retained buildings and tenant
Despite the complex site uniting six buildings, listed buildings have been retained and additional floors added, with justification and increased loads to existing steel and wrought iron sections.
Enabling desired floor-to-ceiling heights
8-storey superstructure with slim structural zones enable the desired floor-to-ceiling height.
New substructure
A 7m dig was carried out to form the substructure.
