Refurbishment and 2-storey extension of a 1980s commercial building in Chelsea to create a sustainable, modern workplace. 93% of the existing building was reused, and new elements utilise engineered timber and reclaimed steel.

Key features

Making sustainable materials choices

The new structure comprises a steel frame, CemfreeTM concrete and CLT floor slabs, with some steelwork procured from other Grosvenor projects and reclaimed stock.

Maximising building retention

93% of the existing building has been retained, including the façade.

Minimal strengthening to existing structure

Thorough investigations into the existing building verified that minimal strengthening was required.

Complex site considerations

The building is partly located over a Thames Water sewer and is adjacent to Sloane Square station with its associated Underground lines.
