Key features

2-storey rear extension

A 2-storey glulam extension houses the double-height kitchen, dining and library space.

Underpinning to basement and garden walls

The existing half basement and garden walls were underpinned to create new accommodation at the lower levels and extensive terraced gardens.

Glulam timber portal frames

Glulam timber portal frames form the new roof and library shelving and work with the steel frame to provide lateral stability to the upper storeys, allowing for a super-slim structural depth.

New steel staircase

A new steel staircase structure has been fabricated from welded box section stringers, which follow the stepped profile of the stairs to reduce structural depth.
