Key features

Complex geometrical exposed CLT roof

A folded roof with complex geometry, made from exposed CLT, creates up to 8m-clear heights above the entrance corridor and main hall.

Designed and delivered to limited budget

Combining CLT, steelwork and load-bearing construction, the building was designed and delivered within a limited budget based on donations.

Maximising off-site manufacturing

To achieve the roof geometry and manage the largely land-locked site, materials and the number of elements were limited and manufactured offsite.

Using technology to coordinate design

A 3D Revit model was produced to coordinate steelwork, CLT and brickwork interfaces.

Feature brickwork entrance canopy

The canopy soffit is finished with two brickwork cladding panels comprising brick slips mechanically fixed to a top hat rail.
