Brixton Windmill
A pro bono education and community centre next to central London’s last remaining tower mill, forming part of HTS’s wider social value programme.
Key features
Exposed structural timber frame
The exposed structure comprises a low-rise pitched roof and Douglas fir frame with tapered columns.
Complementing the Grade II*-listed building
The building complements the blackened tone of the windmill with dark weatherboard cladding and mock-slate roof tiling.
Brick gable walls
The structure is book-ended by two gable walls in a black brick to further reference the neighbouring tower.
Enhancing natural light through skylights
The roof is punctuated with feature skylights, while a series of bi-fold glazed doors open directly onto the surrounding park area.
