Key features

Re-coring and adding floors

The building was re-cored and extended upwards using reinforced concrete to maximise flexibility whilst incorporating a high proportion of GGBS cement replacement.

New foundations support extension

New piled raft foundations support the new extension loads while the existing foundations and structure remain.

Lab-enabled workspace

The structure is designed to be ‘lab enabled’, with minimal adaption works required by the tenant to allow use as a wet lab.

Retention of steel frame structure

The steel frame structure to the lower floors was retained to minimise embodied carbon and maximise re-use.
