It was a pleasure to host a discussion on Adaptive Reuse for Life Sciences last week in our London office, bringing together experts from across the sector to share their perspectives on retrofitting buildings for life sciences.
The discussion looked at the fundamentals of life sciences spaces – both physical and digital – and the importance of location and place for current and future users. The conversation then turned to the opportunities, challenges and carbon implications of retrofitting existing buildings in such a specialist sector.
A big thank you to Evelina Grecenko from EG for chairing the roundtable and to our group of professionals who joined us to discuss this evolving sector: Rebecca Thomas of Fathom Architects, Richard Warwick of Owers Warwick Architects, Fergal Burke of Imperial College London, Rachel Hallam of Buro Happold, Emily Slupek of Bidwells, Tom French of Longfellow Real Estate Partners, Rob Beacroft and Rob Burborough of Lateral, James Morgan and Giorgio Cardone of Heyne Tillett Steel.
