This summer we volunteered our time to help our neighbours at Grown in Hoxton maintain the local community garden on Chart Street.

Groups from our London office headed down in the sun to weed, sand down the planters and tidy the space during lunchtimes. Earlier in the season we spent time pulling up spent annuals and weeds, tidying the paths and preparing the beds for planting.

Having worked with Grown in Hoxton since 2022, it’s great to revisit year-on-year and see the progress there.

Grown in Hoxton began as the first VACANT LOT allotment, commissioned by Shoreditch Trust and brought to life by What if: projects, in 2007. From its beginnings as a temporary intervention featuring bulk bags as growing containers, the site has evolved into an established volunteer-run allotment and inspired many similar low budget community food growing projects.
