In continually pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in engineering, we often look outside of traditional engineering fields – that’s where our software developers come in.

We spoke to Senior Software Developers Vinish Bhan and Somnath Tiwari, to learn more about their career journeys and their day to day life working with us.

The two collaborate with our in-house research team, HTS+, to push our technological expertise both in our own practice and externally. Both Vinish and Somnath began their careers with an interest in coding. Vinish worked as a back-end engineer using systems such as Python and Django to build web applications, while Somnath started through competitions like Hackathons, winning the nationwide competition back in 2022, which spurred him on to pursue his talent.

Throughout their careers at Heyne Tillett Steel, the software development team, working with Chief Technology Officer Jonathan Constans, have built tools and automations to improve and streamline the workflow of our structural, civil, geotechnical and highway and transport engineers.

Vinish and Somnath continue to work with Heyne Tillett Steel’s Directors and HTS+ to challenge and grow our capabilities as engineers.

In our latest HTS+ article, Laura Batty tells us more about how software development has evolved at HTS, and reflects on how Vinish’s and Somnath’s skills have shaped our practice over the last five years.
