1549 - Wimbledon House
Merton
Leathes House is a contemporary three-storey new build home and garden pavilion near Wimbledon
Key Features:
- RC-framed with flat soffits and founded onto pads into the clay
- Sloped site presented logistical and construction challenges. The retaining walls step to follow the slope and a basement has been formed using open-cut methods at the top of the site.
- Brick façade has been intricately detailed and includes perforated brick panels in front of windows. Stainless steel strengthening plates have subtly been incorporated into the bed joints to resist balustrade loads.
- External landscaping includes buried rainwater harvesting and storm water attenuation tanks, carefully excavated near to existing tree roots.
