1439 - Hollingdean Road
Brighton and Hove
The completed scheme involved redeveloping a commercial site into new halls of residence accommodating circa 200 student units and 25 social housing units.
Key Features
- Concrete framed student block arranged over seven floors including a basement level.
- Exposed double-height columns supporting external terraces and green roofs with a saw tooth façade along the main road.
- The social housing block consists of an engineered timber frame, which sped up construction and helped to overcome the difficult logistics in this area of the site.
- Elevated Network Rail tracks run along the northern boundary of the site. Resulting in complex modelling to confirm minimal movements to the tracks.
