0682 - Highland House
Kent
Highland House is a stone-clad new-build private residence in Kent which uses large glazed openings to make use of the surrounding vistas.
Key Features
- RC basement box set into a hillside.
- Minimalist steel frame for two storeys above ground floor, to create open plan living.
- HTS designed the staircase including cantilevering stringers, all timber clad.
- Steel frame designed with minimal deflections to accommodate sliding glazing. Beams were pre-deflected on site to allow the glazing to be installed prior to adding all of the dead load to the beams.
