0988 - Berkshire House
Caversham
A new build, highly detailed private house in Caversham for a private client.
Key Features
- The existing large trees surrounding the site required protection and so a careful regime for root exposure was put in place and a pile raft slab foundation solution used to provide flexibility. The slab was ventilated beneath to provide oxygen to the roots which extended underneath.
- The steel frame cantilevered in several directions, with a large storey high Vierendeel truss extending the length of the new kitchen space to provide column free views over the Thames.
