Award-winning new-build nursery and community centre, in the grounds of the Grade I listed Christ Church Spitalfields.

Key Features 

• Single-storey timber frame superstructure, comprising 17m span portalised glulam frame, with CLT & timber joist roof

• Founded on a reinforced concrete raft floating over original burial site, work was undertaken in collaboration with Museum of London Archaeology and English Heritag

• Eaves overhang up to 5m from the timber-studded, brick clad external walls

• Complex repair & reuse of existing drainage, damaged by historic ground movement from significant surrounding protected trees and burials
