1843 - Channing Junior School

Channing Junior School is an independent school for girls located in Highgate, north London. Heyne Tillett Steel was appointed alongside Prime Meridian and Curo Construction to provide structural repairs, upgrades and extensions to the existing Victorian school building, future-proofing the structure and creating high-quality and contemporary learning spaces.

  • Education development within the grounds of an existing building constructed in the late 1870s, Fairseat House
  • The redevelopment comprises three distinct phases; a new subterranean pavilion, a new dining hall and classroom extensions, which included partial re-build of the existing structure
  • Construction of an independent RC basement structure and two single storey braced steel frames with both composite decking and CLT panels
  • Underpinning of the existing structure, demolition of existing ground bearing slab and construction of single story undercroft
