London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Phase 2 of the redevelopment of Robin Hood Gardens in Poplar has seen the demolition of an existing 1960s residential building, replacing it with four new residential blocks up to ten storeys in height. The project will provide 266 residential units, additional community space and a continuous single storey basement, covering 75% of the site will provide car parking for residents.

Key features

  • The basement car park was carefully designed with consideration to the existing structure to minimise excavation and disposal off-site.
  • Post tensioned floor slabs provide column free apartments and minimise foundation requirements
  • The development will provide new public realm in the form of a park and landscaped areas.
  • Various SuDs techniques have been utilised including blues roofs, attenuation tanks, permeable paving and rain gardens to minimise the peak outfall from the wider site.
