1160 - Balfron Tower

Tower Hamlets

This project involves the refurbishment and repair of a Grade II* listed brutalist architecture 29-storey tower constructed in 1962 that has been designed by Erno Goldfinger. 

Key Features

  • Concrete repairs due the deterioration found on the exposed RC frame in agreement with the warranty provider requirements to justify the building longevity and with English Heritage to preserve the historic value of the original façade. 
  • Temporary works design to support the 29 storey high scaffolding system with 3 hoists and avoid any unnecessary alterations to the original structure.
