Chelmsford
A new RIBA award winning dental practice in Chelmsford. The building is predominately single storey providing consultation space and a reception area. There is an additional floating box at its centre providing a first floor level office space.
The building is sunken into the ground to increase floor to ceiling heights, and is constructed using a steel frame supporting timber and glazed façades and a timber roof. The foundations are simple concrete trench fill with reinforced concrete retaining walls.
The steel frame has been carefully detailed to produce a seamless structure to the complicated geometry of the building. The main elevation incorporates brise soleil fins which are suspended from the front of the building.
