A substantial redevelopment and repositioning of an existing Foster + Partners designed office building, located close to Moorgate Station. The project involves the redesign and replacement of the building’s facade as well as the removal of top floor elements and exiting internal link bridges. A new pavillion structure will be constructed on the roof, the internal floor pates reconfigured and the atrium space infilled.

Key Features

• Research into archive information to find all as-built information on the building to develop the design without intrusive investigations.
• Modelling the existing building structure including three generations of foundations buried below the basement slab to develop foundation design and reduce ground works risk.
• Review of buildability issues in workshops with contractors to better understand constraints to design.
