Laura is HTS’ first full-time research engineer, working on developing HTS+ and best practice projects with a focus on sustainability and linking structural engineering research to practice. She is continuously developing HTS' understanding and practical implementation of low carbon and circular structural design, researching sustainable materials, circular design and composite engineered timber. She also provides ongoing support for best practice and technical queries, and disseminating research across the practice.
In her previous role at HTS, Laura was the project engineer on a variety of buildings including the refurbishment of the Grade II* listed Hornsey Town Hall and a new four-storey basement at a private residence. Alongside her project work Laura was heavily involved in HTS+, which enabled her to continue to cultivate her interest in the research, testing and development of innovative structural concepts.
Laura joined HTS in 2018 having previously spent four years working in the United States. She has worked on a wide range of projects including museums, public schools and culturally sensitive historic preservation projects, using modern software and analysis methods to understand historic structures and explore architectural concepts.
