We hosted the Mayor's Fund for London 'Power of Work Experience' event in our London office, for students from local schools and colleges.
with a keynote speech from Melissa Dias of Wates Group, discussing her unique route into the built environment. This was followed by a panel of recent graduates across the built environment, who spoke about their individual career pathways.
It was a very informative morning, following by networking between the students and future employers. Current apprentices at Heyne Tillett Steel, shared their alternative routes into Civil and Structural Engineering, as well as three work experience students that are spending the week with us.
We were introduced to Firm Foundations though long-time collaborators and architects Morris+Company Co, which is a Mayor's Fund for London initiative launched in 2021. The organisation provides an opportunity to help transform the life chances of young Londoners whilst creating a stronger and more inclusive built environment industry.
As Firm Foundations, Founding Partners, we'll be working with social-mobility programmes including Access Aspiration which partners with schools across London and works to diversify career pathways for young people from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds.
