Our Republic Masterplan project has been shortlisted for an IStructE Zero Carbon Ambition Award. The award recognises projects which demonstrate excellence in the pursuit of low, zero, or negative-carbon solutions across the design and construction of the project.
Commenting on the scheme, the judges said:
"The refurbishment of two ten-storey office buildings alongside an expanded public realm creating a highly sustainable workplace.Building extensions utilised glue-laminated and cross-laminated timber to increase and extend the lettable floor area without any need to undertake additional work to the foundations.
A central atrium feature is formed from cantilevered and exposed timber balconies and frames. The timber pavilion extensions were designed with circular economy and future adaptability in mind and detailed to support a further three storeys in the future. An impressive light touch solution that carefully minimised the use of materials and need for new foundations."
