Opening of Queens Park Pavillion | London Design Festival 2015

HTS recently gave structural advice to Claridge Architects during the construction of a timber temporary pavillion in Queens Park London. The Pavillion was constructed to house an exhibition, which celebrated businesses who ultilise commonly undesirable plants (weeds) in sustainable and creative ways. Some of the items included dandelion lights, dyes, paints and an inspired cocktail bar.

The structure comprised of simple timber joists and stud walls, with stability being provided by the diagonal cladding on the external walls. The biggest structural issue was checking that the structure was heavy enough to not blow over in the wind.
