Associate, Gustaf Granstrom-Steer spoke at the 2023 Zak Engineered Timber Envelopes conference in London, speaking about realising a commercial timber building and the steps to build it. After introducing our in-house Timber Focus Group and HTS+, our internal Research and Innovation team, Gustaf spoke of how HTS is pioneering commercial engineered timber buildings, including Technique, 16 Chart Street and The Import and Export Buildings.
Gustaf spoke about the challenges and design considerations when using timber as a material choice, including risks involved, testing and research that is required and the different forms of analysis that inform the design of a commercial timber building.
