Epworth House steelwork progressing well

 

The substantial refurbishment and reconstruction of Epworth House, Islington, is well under way. BAM construction have completed the complicated piled raft foundations and the new steel frame is starting to take shape for both the new floors on top of the existing structure and for the rebuilt area to the rear, interacting with the existing RC and steel framed portions of the building at the boundary between old and new. Long-span ultra shallow floor beams have been used to achieve Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects vision of column free spaces and a flat soffit.
