Digbeth Masterplan submitted for planning

The hybrid planning application for the Digbeth Masterplan has been submitted to Birmingham City Council.

Alongside the wider design team and our client Oval Real Estate, HTS is working on the regeneration of Digbeth, a creative post-industrial hub with links to trade, craft and the arts. As part of a long-term vision, the masterplan will refurbish existing buildings including the Custard Factory and Bond Company, enhance public realm with new shops, restaurants and cafes and improve existing infrastructure and connectivity. The historic Duddeston Viaduct, having fallen into disrepair will be transformed into Viaduct Park, a new green and biodiverse landscape further adding to the sense of place fostered across the neighbourhood.

A large portion of the masterplan is at high risk or medium risk of flooding from the River Rea which runs through the site. HTS is developing flood mitigation solutions on a plot by plot basis and carrying out flood modelling to ensure the proposals do not reduce the flood plain of the river.
