Working on behalf of Brookfield Properties, the refurbishment and internal fit out of CityPoint tower levels 6 to 8 is now complete.
To increase the internal area and improve connectivity throughout the building we worked closely alongside BDG Architecture and Design and Collins Construction on the design of three structural link bridges, installed from floors 6 to 8.
Complex structural works were carried out to deliver two bridge structures over live retail and hospitality including justification of the existing podium and tower piles for the additional loads with limited strengthening to the level 1 transfer deck. The three buildings are all structurally independent and the linking together with link bridges required specialist bearings that’s allowed differential movement at each interface. A third bridge was also installed within the atrium at level 7, acting as an internal terrace and providing ready access to outside space. Elsewhere across the building, three external terraces have been created, two at level eight and one at level six including the cutting of the Santiago Calatrava Giraffe structures.
To complete the refurbishment works, alterations were made to the existing reception space to allow for a double height lift lobby while the entrance façade has been redesigned and opened outwards to provide a new and refreshed arrival into the building.
