Mark and Tom had a great week in Chicago for the BCO Conference. Neither had visited the city before and they both were blown away by the scale and ambition of the place, both historically and in the present.
Many buildings were visited including Farnsworth House, the SC Johnson Building and Monadnock - the world's tallest and possibly best load bearing masonry building. They also got to see what many engineers refer to as the most elegant and beautiful sky scraper, The John Hancock Centre.
Inspirational speakers at the conference including Thimon De Jong and James Cheshire, who kick started a good debate. Long life, loose fit appear more relevant than ever as the pace of change with ways of working will be faster than ever before.
