A visit from St Luke's primary school students

This week we hosted a class of Year 6 children from local primary school, St Luke's.

We started with an introduction from Senior Civil Engineer Kat, and Senior Structural Engineer, Sam,who spoke about the different types of Engineering we specialise in at HTS and what the role of a Civil and Structural Engineer entails. Lots of questions were asked which was brilliant - the children were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We discussed the materials used, looked at the history of some very famous Civil and Structural Engineers and discussed the pathways into the profession.

The children took a tour around our Chart Street office with Associate, Khizer, looking at how the refurbishment of our office was constructed, and finding out about all the different materials around our very own building.

The main activity of the afternoon was building bridges and structures out of spaghetti, marshmallows, string and sellotape. Look at the creations! - we definitely have some future Engineers in the mix.
