Now complete, 16 Old Bailey has delivered Grade-A commercial accommodation occupying a prominent location opposite Old Bailey High Court.
The project involved the redevelopment and repositioning of two existing buildings: a Grade II listed building to the front, and a steel-framed structure to the rear. To increase the lettable floor area, two additional floors have been added to the top of the building, while a new central core has been constructed to rationalise the existing floor plates and provide ready access to the new upper levels. A new feature stair has been installed through the heart of the building, connecting office floors and allowing for enhanced connectivity.
Through an approach we have termed ‘Total Engineering’, we worked closely with the contractor to integrate the temporary and permanent steel work into the main structural works. Applied to a large proportion of our projects, our Total Engineering approach allows us minimise a project’s programme and cost and significantly reduce the embodied carbon typically associated with temporary works.
