This project comprises the sensitive refurbishment and extension of KOKO, a Grade II listed music venue in Camden, to provide dynamic entertainment and hospitality facilities.
A new ‘Sky Lobby’ roof bar and terrace is to be constructed above the existing auditorium roof, isolated from the majority of the existing structure to minimise the effect on the historic building fabric. To do this, we are proposing to feed four columns through the existing building, supported on new cantilever piled foundations. The iconic dome structure will also be utilised, connected to the new ‘Sky Lobby’ via a glazed stair link structure.
The derelict buildings at 1 Bayham Street, 65 Bayham Place and the Hope & Anchor pub at the rear of KOKO are to be rebuilt with a new 4 storey steel frame structure, incorporating the existing, culturally significant sections of the façade.
