1538 - Old Burlington Street

Westminster

The project involves the refurbishment and redevelopment of 31 Old Burlington Street, London, an existing Grade I listed terraced house located within the Mayfair Conservation Area, in the City of Westminster. Constructed in the 1720’s the building is believed to be a template for Georgian dwellings constructed throughout the UK. The building was extended in the early 1900’s with a rooftop extension plus an extension to the rear of the building.

An existing plant room at roof level of the main house will be demolished and replaced with a single storey of residential space. The lower levels will be subject to internal refurbishment involving minor structural works, retaining as much as possible of the original fabric of the building.

The existing extension to the rear of the building is to be partially demolished and rebuilt. Modifications to existing levels will facilitate the installation of an additional storey of office space. Load bearing walls at lower ground floor level will be removed to create a new multifunction, open plan space.
