0512 - Nightingale House Care Home

The project consists of the refurbishment of the ‘GLC’ building which forms part of the larger Nightingale Care Home complex. The client’s aim is to raise the quality of the Care Home and its facilities by implementing a capital works programme of refurbishment works.

The scope of the structural refurbishment works include the removal of internal load bearing walls on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors to achieve larger rooms and spaces, a bridge link to connect neighbouring accommodation wings to improve circulation and turning two external balcony areas into usable internal spaces

The proposed works are to be completed in a phased constructon which minimises the impact on the residents and staff who will continue to occupy the building during the construction works. To coordinate the construction works around the residents the project has been split into three phases which are to concentrate works on a floor by floor basis starting at 2nd floor working up through the building.
