London
The scheme comprises the construction of a new fourth floor, to create 12 new flats, on top of the existing roof of a 1930’s Frederick Gibberd mansion block, currently with 3 floors of apartments below. the building was fully occupied during the works.
The additional floor has been designed to be built off a steel grillage, supported on the load bearing masonry walls below and supporting a new lightweight timber framed superstructure. The floor and roof is constructed from open web metal timber joists to allow easy service distribution.
