About the role:
We are currently looking for a Finance Controller to join our team. This is a varied role, reporting into the Finance Director, working alongside the company Directors and managing a mostly newly recruited team of four. The responsibilities need to be more about managing and overseeing however maintaining a willingness to still be hands on when required. There also needs to be a focus on the improvement of processes, systems and partnering with engineering teams as well as being involved with general operational system and process improvements. We pride ourselves on a dynamic, stimulating, and enjoyable work environment that delivers real value to our clients.
The right candidate will need to be enthusiastic and proactive with experience of managing, mentoring and developing a finance team. The candidate will be a qualified accountant.
Key Relationships: Finance Director and The Directors
Role:
+ Manage finance operations including a Management Accountant, an Assistant Management Accountant, a Finance Administrator and a to-be recruited Credit Controller
+ Management reporting – standard financial statements as well as specific performance metrics on revenue, costs, and staff efficiency
+ Cash flow forecasting – including working with the Finance Director to align the cash flow forecasting tool with historical information from Xero. Assisting the Finance Director to develop P&L and balance sheet forecasts
+ Calculation of bank covenant compliance and reporting to banks for review
+ Reviewing the inputs and outputs for the outsourced payroll function
+Managing staff pension scheme
+ Day to day financial management of property-owning entities including reporting to lenders on covenant compliance
+ Review VAT returns and prepare quarterly corporation tax calculations
+ Process management and change implementation of new systems and suggesting new ways of working
+ Working with external consultants and bank management – annual financial audit, R&D reclaim, pensions advice, bank, etc.
+ Enhancing financial controls with various disciplines to be implemented including reconciliations, journal entries, data checks with other systems and management in Xero, sign-off of on sales ledger statements, summaries, credit notes and refunds
+ Approving staff expenses, checking credit cards and payments
+ Ad-hoc director and finance team projects
+ Suggesting and implementing sustainable practices for business partnering with practice staff including systems for managing information requests from practice staff
+ Staff/Director life and income protection insurances, company private healthcare scheme and assisting in annual Professional Indemnity renewal
The ideal candidate:
+ 4 / 5 years post qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW, ACCA or similar)
+ Demonstrable experience working for UK high growth, small and medium sized entities. Experience within time-charging professional services businesses especially within creative practices would be very welcome
+ Thrives in a high-growth environment
+ Track record of implementing changes in the financial infrastructure of businesses
+ Experience of using CMAP and Xero systems will be a bonus
