University of Winchester wins Planning

We are delighted to announce that Winchester City Council planning committee has approved the latest plans to deliver a new £30m landmark building as part of the University’s ongoing drive to upgrade campus facilities.

The designs produced with Design Engine Architects comprise three interconnecting buildings around a triangular courtyard, five levels of teaching space, a library and restaurant over a site wide basement. The site further features a 250 seat cylindrical auditorium, with continuous 20m diameter column free space. An innovative lightweight truss frame system has been developed for the social learning space creating a column free first floor with spans up to 30m.

The building is expected to go on site later this year and completed by summer 2019.
