Unanimous planning approval for Cotton Quay

We are delighted to announce that our Cotton Quay project has been granted unanimous planning approval by Salford City Council.

The completed 8.3 acre development will provide 1,500 new homes set within a series of waterfront towers, extensive public realm areas and leisure and retail facilites.

The civils team at HTS provided key flood risk and SuDS design services to support the planning application. Due to the flood risk from the Manchester Shipping Canal the FFLs were raised to ensure the building would be safe in a flood event. We also avoided the use of any below ground attenuation structures by instead proposing blue green roofs, rain gardens, bioretention basins and permeable paving. The coordination with Studio Egret West was key to the success of the SuDS proposals.

The HTS team comprises Mark Tillett, Carmel Lennon and Katrina Wylie, who led the civils design and the compilation of the planning reports.
