Structural works are now fully complete at 16 Chart Street, Hackney! ⠀

Alongside Ian Chalk Architects, we are working on the commercial redevelopment of the existing 1930s masonry warehouse. The four-story building has been repurposed and the area increased to include a new side extension, an additional storey on the roof and a new central staircase. The new extensions have been predominantly been built in CLT and engineered timber, lowering embodied carbon and speeding up construction. Through low-carbon structural design and the reuse of the existing structure, the project has achieved the LETI and RIBA 2030 targets for embodied carbon. ⠀
The new roof, featuring a sawtooth Northlight, will create a large, open-plan space for presentations, events and collective activity. Once complete, the building will be the new office space for our expanding practice, reflecting our approach to low-carbon structural design and our commitment to retrofit and reuse
