Playascape project at Burning Man Festival

HTS recently provided structural justification into the proposed installation of Playascape at Burning Man festival in Nevada. An undulating, contoured amphitheatre was formed from small pieces of high strength Birch Plywood, glued and screwed together with carefully considered joints. The ply was CNC cut the week before the festival in a special facility in Reno, assembled into larger parts and transported for final erection in Black Rock desert.

As part of her involvement in the project Associate Kelly Harrison decided to join the build team helping with fabrication drawings, preparing the main structural rib profiles for transport, showing the team how to connect the parts, ordering the required supplies, setting out the structure on site, and snagging and instructing throughout the build.
